How to check your Pokémon's stats with the new Appraise feature in Pokémon Go

How do I learn more about my Pokémon’s secret stats? With the new Appraise in Pokémon Go!

There are certain stats you can see after catching a new Pokémon in Pokémon Go, including its CP (combat power), HP (hit points), and weight. But thanks to the new 1.5.0 Pokémon Go update currently rolling out around the globe, you can also find out some not-so-public information about your creature, thanks to your Team Leader!

NOTE: If you’re not seeing the latest Pokémon Go update, it may not have rolled out to your area yet. back soon!

How the Appraise works

When you Appraise a Pokémon, your team’s Leader (Blanche, Spark, or Candela, if you’re in Mystic, Instinct, or Valor respectively) will take a good look at your creature.

Your Team Leader is looking at three “secret” stats: Your Pokémon’s strength, defense, and attack. (You may have previously seen these referred to as your creature’s IVs.) While your Leader won’t go super-technical or give away specific numbers, they’ll at least give you a general idea of where your Pokémon stands compared to others.

There are a few different phrases your Leader will use depending on your Pokémon’s overall stats. As the update is still rolling out across the globe, we’ve only seen a few reports as to the phrases said for various Pokémon strengths; the Pokémon Go reddit has a good thread going, currently, but here’s what we’ve seen so far:

90-100%: “Your [pokemon] is a wonder! What a breathtaking Pokémon!”75-90%: TBD50-75%: TBD50% or below: TBD

Your leader will also tell you its best attribute — strength (HP), Attack, or Defense — along with how those latter two match up (higher or lower).
